What is CAReS?

CAReS, the Client-Agency Referral System hosted by Serve Denton, connects Denton County residents in need with local resources and charitable services that can help. From food, education, and housing needs to finding work, transit, or goods, CAReS has a massive inventory of organizations ready to help. People can simply search for specific services by typing in their zip code! In Denton CountCares-Screen-Shoty zip codes, there  are 740 programs listed on the CAReS website. Over the past year, there have been 7,332 searches for assistance. CAReS started in September 2013 as a collaboration with Austin software developer Aunt Bertha and has continued to make a huge impact in the Denton community by connecting our neighbors in need to services that can help.

Once a user types in their zip code, they are given the option to search for a specific service or click on one of the provided service tabs. A list of services in that area that match the user’s search will then pop up. Each organization’s contact information, hours, location, and details about their service are available for viewing. The site is also mobile-friendly, so if you encounter someone in need of services while you are out, you can access the site using your phone or tablet and help them find the locations and hours of local nonprofit service providers.
