We are so excited to welcome Mandi Saville as our new Operations Assistant!
Mandi will be helping with a variety of administrative tasks at the Serve Denton Center as the Operations Assistant. She will also act as the liaison between Serve Denton and our partner nonprofits at The Wheeler House.
Mandi has spent time nurturing children as a nanny and is an accomplished photographer.
Speaking about her new position, Mandi says, "This position seems like a great fit for what I like to do: serve!"
“When you hear people’s stories, you find out we’re all so different but still so similar! Get to know your neighbors and co-workers! You’ll be glad you did.”
How did you hear about Serve Denton?
I heard about Serve Denton through a woman’s program at my church. Many of the women are involved with Serve Denton and nonprofits around Denton, so it often came up in conversation!
What are you most passionate about?
I hesitate every time I’m asked about my passions. It has taken me a long time to narrow it down because I think from a young age we’re told that “passions=career dreams.” I’ve never known exactly what I wanted to do with my life career wise, so I felt insecure answering “I don’t know” anytime someone asked me that question. But I knew I wasn’t passionless! While I’m still figuring out what kind of career I want, I have narrowed down a couple things that get me up in the morning and get me excited about life.
The gospel of Jesus Christ. It has radically changed my life and how I see myself and others. I may still be figuring out the whole “career” thing, but God has provided us a reason for why we’re here on earth and that’s to glorify Him in all we do! I hope to never forget that.
I’m passionate about people and their stories! Families, kiddos, college students, senior citizens, teachers, missionaries, nurses, etc.! Everyone has a story and many won’t share theirs unless they’re asked to. When you hear people’s stories, you find out we’re all so different but still so similar. Get to know your neighbors and co-workers! You’ll be glad you did.
What are you most excited about with this position?
This position seems like a great fit for what I like to do: serve! I mean, it’s in the NAME for Pete’s sake! Wherever there’s a need, I want to help.
How has your past experience prepared you for this position?
I was most recently a nanny for about a year and while it introduced me to the sweetest people and let me experience all kinds of precious memories, it definitely brought its challenges.
Every day brought something new, and I had to learn to adapt; to be comfortable in the uncomfortable. I learned many things in that job that make me feel a little more prepared for what I take on next: Serve Denton.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My father was in the Air Force for 20+ years so my three older siblings and I moved around a bunch.
Those experiences of traveling and meeting new people every couple of years has had a huge impact on my life today. It equipped me to go out of my way to meet the new kid, be kind to strangers, and to always say yes to buying those airline tickets.
While I love traveling, photography, and spontaneous road trips, I also really (REALLY) love naps, game nights and lazy days.
