The Wheeler House, a Serve Denton project, is now home to service providers for healthcare, homeless street outreach, and transitional housing. Giving Hope, Inc., an organization helping homeless families achieve self-sufficiency, has welcomed the first two families to live at The Wheeler House. They have also moved their street outreach program into The Wheeler House office. At the front of this building, Health Services of North Texas, a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center, runs a clinic every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Since this HSNT location opened in May, their health center has seen 21 new patients, 85 patients total, and has received 94 visits. Thanks to a grant from the Denton Benefit League and the Fit 2 Serve fundraiser hosted by CrossFit Denton, Serve Denton was able to purchase a playground for the children living at The Wheeler House. Volunteers from Denton County Young Professionals, S.W.E.A.T. Team, CrossFit Denton, Trail Life, and the UNT football team assembled the playground, which is now open for play.
