5 Star Rental Named Business Partner of the Month

We were honored to get the opportunity to name 5 Star Rental as our Business Partner of the Month for May! 5 Star Rental has been a supporter of Serve Denton since day one.

They have been an in-kind sponsor for Serve Denton’s annual gala, Celebration, for the past few years, donating tables, chairs, pipe and drape, silverware, napkins, vases and more. If you've ever been a part of Celebration, you know it takes a team to pull it off, and they eagerly join in every year. They were a major in-kind sponsor for this year's Celebration, which helped Serve Denton put on a successful event.

CoServ Really Knows How to Serve Denton

CoServ Really Knows How to Serve Denton

Serve Denton was able to honor CoServ at our April board meeting as our Business Partner of the Month! When it comes to their service to our organization, where do we even begin?

To start, CoServ gifted Serve Denton a $20,000 grant to go toward our partnership with the Denton Community Food Center. In less than a year, Serve Denton plans to move into a new building where the Denton Community Food Center will relocate in order to expand their services and serve more people facing hunger.

How Did Celebration Go?

How Did Celebration Go?

It is time for a breather! Serve Denton has been preparing for our annual gala, Celebration, for quite some time.  With the great success of the event behind us, now we can truly celebrate. The success of the event is due the work and dedication of our awesome board, staff, volunteers, and our Super Volunteer – Priscilla Sanders, co-founding board member. It is also largely due to our supporters who came to the event and helped raise funding so more people in Denton County can become self-sufficient.

Celebration Recap

Our Fourth Annual Celebration was a night full of firsts. We started a new tradition by rolling out the “Making a Difference” awards. We used a mobile bidding company called GiveSmart for our silent auction, and we heard from the former news anchor many of us grew up with, Gloria Campos. 12976850_977118005713448_7406600106829894574_o-1We awarded 5 community members with the “Making a Difference” award for their underground service to our city. The purpose of the award is to highlight the people in our community who do the behind the scenes work and rarely get recognition. They do what they do for a selfless reason. From the hungry to the homeless to the neglected and troubled - Everyday life in their shoes deserves an award.

12967463_977118045713444_3603631530590188884_oGloria Campos spoke about her experience with becoming an advocate for Wednesday’s Child, a foster organization. She highlighted sometimes up to eight kids at a time hoping to find them loving and permanent families. Because of her 40-year experience in journalism, she has had to report on many sad and depressing stories, which is why she has made it her mission to only report good news from now on. If you check out her Twitter, she is all about sharing uplifting and encouraging stories.

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Celebration. Please know how grateful we are for your generosity and support. YOU are the reason we can help other nonprofits help people become self-sufficient.

Gloria Campos To Speak At Celebration!

Our theme for this year's Celebration is "Making A Difference," and our guest speaker, Gloria Campos, greatly represents that mantra. Gloria is a former WFAA Channel 8 news anchor and will join us on Saturday, April 9 to share about her journey of becoming a difference maker. During her journalism career, she partnered with Wednesday's Child to advocate for foster children to become adopted by featuring them on Good Morning Texas. Her efforts successfully resulted in the adoption of hundred of children. This is just one of the ways she has impacted our North Texas community.

This year, we are also starting a new tradition. Five community members will be honored with the “Difference Maker” award. Be prepared to learn about the touching stories of these undercover servants of Denton.

Last, but certainly not least, we will have our renowned silent auction. We are doing it a little differently this year, so it will go as smoothly and quickly as possible! The silent auction is all online. We are using a program called Give Smart to display all of our silent auction items. This way, you can bid and donate all on your phone, even if you don’t have a smart phone. If you have been outbid, you will receive a text message. This way, you can make sure to get those items you really want! Another perk of this system is being able to pay on your phone. Once the event ends, you can then head home. This new process will make your experience more fun and hassle free. We look forward to seeing you there!

You can purchase tickets, register for the silent auction, and view the silent auction item all at the same place. Just click HERE!
