Less Hungry People this Souper Bowl Season

Denton donated 28,000 pounds of food this Souper Bowl season! With 48 million Americans living in poverty, a donation drive called Souper Bowl of Caring came into the works. Denton Community Food Center joined the cause five years ago to help fill the local food pantries in Denton County, including their own pantry and Vision Ministries’. From January 18 to February 7, 2016, many people shopping at Kroger purchased a “Tackle Hunger” bag filled with nonperishable foods. These bags were transported to Serve Denton to be processed and organized by volunteers. So far, 63 volunteers have helped out. Chairman of the Denton Community Food Center Board of Directors, Tom Newell, said, “Denton is truly a generous and loving community.”
