We are so excited to welcome Julie Elliott as our new Development Coordinator!
She will be assisting the development director with donor relations, researching & writing grant proposals and event organization for Serve Denton.
Julie first joined Serve Denton in January 2017 as the communication intern. After her internship, she accepted a job at ENERGY worldnet, Inc. as a technical writer, and now she is back at Serve Denton.
Speaking about her new position, Julie says, "I am excited to be working for and learning more about nonprofits! I am especially excited for the opportunity to write grants and be involved in fundraising and event planning."
"I think coming to this new position with prior knowledge about Serve Denton is absolutely invaluable. I also have experience as a writer from previous positions; can't wait to put those writing abilities to use!"
Before coming to Serve Denton in 2016, Julie's passion for helping others began in 2011 in Joplin, Missouri after the city was hit by an EF-5 tornado. She made numerous trips to Joplin, helping with the response and recovery efforts there.
"After that experience, my life was changed," Julie said. "I fell in love with the work I was doing and felt like I was created to help those who experience disasters."
She is excited to be working for and learning more about nonprofits and for the opportunity to write grants. Julie is also looking forward to being involved in fundraising and event planning.
Julie graduated with a bachelor's degree in Emergency Administration and Planning from the University of North Texas, and she just celebrated her first anniversary with her husband, Connor.
When she is not writing grants she likes to drink coffee, cook, bake and play the piano.
Julie says, "I am so happy to be back!"
