The Denton Parks Foundation received a $10,000 grant from CoServ, which will provide full-tuition ($120) summer camp scholarships for 23 children! The even more exciting news is the scholarships will be divided between The Wheeler House, a Serve Denton project, and Denton County Friends of the Family.
Because of this grant, up to eight children from The Wheeler House will be able to attend camp for the entire summer. The Wheeler House is a transitional housing facility for moms and their kids managed by Giving Hope, Inc. and an affordable health clinic managed by Health Services of North Texas. Denton County Friends of the Family will also be able to send up to 15 children to summer camp.
In addition, the Denton Parks Foundation will provide full-tuition ($60) swimming lesson scholarships for up to eight children living at The Wheeler House and up to 25 children from Denton County Friends of the Family’s shelter and outreach program. The Denton Parks Foundation will also provide bathing suits to all of the children if needed!
Serve Denton and Denton County Friends of the Family thank the Denton Parks Foundation for their generosity and willingness to come alongside their mission. This grant will provide some normalcy to these children's lives, which is so often taken for granted.
