Serve Denton Names New CEO: Pat Smith

We are so excited to announce that Pat Smith, founder of Serve Denton, will be returning to the team as chief executive officer of Serve Denton. Carlie Kuban will become the new chief administrative officer. These two will once again team up to lead Serve Denton as it continues to grow.

We have experienced tremendous growth as a nonprofit the last two years and we are expanding our one-stop-shop social service assistance center to almost 50,000 sf with 16 nonprofit partners.

Restructuring for Growth

As a result, the Serve Denton Board has decided to restructure the staff to better serve its partners and provide more stability as it takes on a much larger mission. With the addition of Health Services of North Texas, Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County and Denton Community Food Center, Serve Denton will more than triple in size in just one year.

Pat Smith and Carlie Kuban Serve Denton

With Pat Smith as the CEO, he will focus on the strategic planning, board development, and the construction and expansion of Serve Denton.

Carlie Kuban will be able to focus on overseeing our talented staff, managing the capital campaign, developing major gifts, and leading general day-to-day functions. We needed more hands on deck in order to sustain and grow Serve Denton as it continues to thrive.

This change will become effective on July 1, 2019.

Serve Denton will more than triple in size in just one year.

About the transition, Pat said, “I’m humbled and honored to be afforded the opportunity to come back to the Serve Denton family that I love so dearly. Jana and I consider Serve Denton to be our fourth child and to be able to see this new chapter in Serve Denton’s life and the fulfillment of a forty year old vision to be fully realized is an opportunity many don’t get to see. I look forward to working with the amazing agencies in Denton County and helping more people.”

Carlie added, “Pat has been an integral part of the team from the beginning and we are excited to have him back as CEO. We work so well as a team and I can’t wait for it to begin!”

We believe that by expanding our leadership, we will be able to expand as an organization. The more work we can do, the more people we can help in Denton County. We are excited about this development and the future of Serve Denton.
