Did you know more than 13 million children in the United States are food insecure? And with school out for the summer, those kids no longer have guaranteed meals — breakfast and lunch. 

Thankfully, every year SummerFood.org compiles a list of all the free meals served over the summer for kids ages 18 and under! Just go to SummerFood.org and type in your zip code or text "FoodTx" to 877-877.

Help Us Welcome Bob to Our Team!

We are so excited to welcome Bob Johns to the Serve Denton team as our new Property Manager! Bob will be helping with a variety of property maintenance tasks at the Serve Denton Center and The Wheeler House as the Property Manager. Bob has worked for over 40 years maintaining facilities for Sears.

Help Us Welcome Giving Hope, Inc. to the Serve Denton Center!

We are so excited to welcome Giving Hope, Inc. to the Serve Denton Center as our newest nonprofit partner! Serve Denton currently partners with Giving Hope, Inc. at The Wheeler House where their organization manages the transitional housing facility for moms and their kids. Since 2015, more than 100 mom and kids have transitioned out of a housing crisis into permanent housing because of this program.

The Meadows Foundation Awards $100,000 to Serve Denton

On Saturday, December 15, 2018, The Meadows Foundation awarded $100,000 to Serve Denton’s Capital Campaign to help cover construction costs of the medical clinic, advocacy center and food center. This multipurpose facility for nonprofit agencies will serve low-income and at-risk residents of Denton County.

The Schmitz Family has committed to donating $250,000 to Serve Denton to name the Denton Community Food Center (DCFC) building on the Serve Denton campus, “The Schmitz Family Building: Denton Community Food Center.”

A Brighter Future for Denton

December 20th marked the culmination of 21 months of effort for Health Services of North Texas, Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County, Denton Community Food Clinic and Serve Denton. We closed on a $9.5 million deal that will enable each agency to accomplish some of its strategic goals that most likely would never have been achieved by the organizations working independently.

The Denton Community Food Center Receives $30,000 from PointBank

PointBank President Ray David, Jr. and PointBank have committed to donating $30,000 to the Serve Denton Capital Campaign. The Denton Community Food Center waiting room will be sponsored by PointBank, and will be named after Ray David’s mother and stepfather, Bill and Linda Brady.
